Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Palo (“RCAP Schools Philippines” “us”, “we”, or “our”) operates the https://rcapschools.org/ website (the “Website”) and related software applications made available by us for use on or through computers, mobile devices or other Internet-connected devices (the “Apps”) (the Website and the Apps being collectively referred to as the “RCAP Schools Online Services”).

We respect and value data privacy rights and ensure that appropriate measures are in place to protect all personal data collected from students, parents, alumni, employees, and stakeholders, and that all personal data are processed in accordance with the principles of transparency, proportionality, and legitimacy of purpose.

We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of individuals that we interact with on a daily basis as we operate the following schools (the “RCAP Schools”):

This privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) explains how we handle personal data that we collect through the Website, the Apps, the third-party sites or applications or libraries that we connect to that may collect personal data as well, and other means (for example, from your application forms, telephone calls, emails and other communications with us).

We use your data to provide and improve the RCAP Schools Online Services. By using the RCAP Schools Online Services and submitting personal information through the Website and the Apps, you expressly consent to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

RCAP Schools  Philippines collects various personal data relating to application for admission, scholarship, or employment (“Personal Data”). These include, but are not limited to:

  • Personal details such as name, birth, gender, civil status and affiliations;
  • Contact information such as address, email, mobile and telephone numbers;
  • Academic information such as grades, course and academic standing;
  • Employment information such as government-issued numbers, position and functions;
  • Applicant information such as academic background and previous employments;
  • Medical information such as physical, psychiatric and psychological information.

Usage data may also be collected. This may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type, browser version, the pages of our Website that your visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data. When you access the RCAP Schools Online Services by or through a mobile device, this usage data may include information such as the type of mobile device you use, your mobile device unique ID, the IP address of your mobile device, your mobile operating system, the type of mobile Internet browser you use, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.

We may also use and store information about your location, which we use to provide features of the RCAP Schools Online Services, as well as to improve and customize our services.

To enhance user experience, the RCAP Schools Online Services may use “cookies” and other tracking technology which collect certain kinds of information when you interact with the Website or the Apps. How We Use Your Information

In general, we use the collected data for purposes necessary for the RCAP Schools to perform their obligations, exercise their rights, and conduct their associated functions as educational institutions. Specifically, we use the collected data for purposes including:

  • To provide and maintain the RCAP Schools Online Services
  • To notify you about changes to the RCAP Schools Online Services
  • To allow you to participate in interactive features of the RCAP Schools Online Services when you choose to do so
  • To communicate with you about activities and events of the RCAP Schools
  • To update the information maintained in the RCAP Schools’ databases for their alumni network

  • To provide analysis regarding how you use the RCAP Schools Online Services, or any part thereof so that we can improve the same

For example, as part of the admissions process, we collect applicant Personal Data to evaluate applications. We also may obtain Personal Data from third parties, such as other schools, references, and family members, as part of an application package. We may also collect Personal Data to evaluate and determine whether financial aid opportunities are available to an applicant. We also collect Personal Data to process course enrollment or class or event registration, provide online class or training programs, process employment applications, receive donations, process online purchases or books, materials, event tickets, etc.

Transfer and Sharing of Information

We share your information internally at the RCAP Schools to facilitate and manage the purposes listed above. Your information may be shared with third party entities that provide services to us, including companies that provide payment processing, app analytics, data processing, web hosting, and IT services including app development, support and maintenance, and other services. In addition, some of the content and services on the RCAP Schools Online Services are served by third-party service providers, content providers, and technology and application providers; these third-party providers may collect your information as necessary so that they may provide the services for which they have been engaged.

We may also share the collected information for the following cases or scenarios:

  • When we are required to do so by law or if such legal disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with legal processes or regulatory requirements applicable to us, enforce our terms of use or other policies, or respond to any claims
  • For maintaining the safety and security of the information collected as well as that of the data subject.
  • We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy and no transfer of your Personal Data will take place to an organization unless there are adequate controls in place including the security of your data and other personal information. We will not sell any personal information to third parties for their use in direct marketing, advertising, or promotion of their products or services.

Payments

We may provide paid products and/or services within the RCAP Schools Online Services, and use third-party services for payment processing (e.g. payment processors). We will not store or collect your payment card details. That information is provided directly to out third-party payment processors whose use of your personal information is governed by their own privacy policy. These payment processors adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, Mastercard, etc. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of payment information.

Electronic Communications

Consistent with the purposes listed above, we may communicate with you via electronic messages, including email, text message, or mobile push notification to, for example: send you information relating to the RCAP Schools including event reservation and waitlist confirmations and updates, receipts, technical notices, updates, security alerts, and support and administrative messages; and/or, subject to your choice under Marketing section below or any applicable law or regulation, communicate with you about events, offers, promotions, upcoming events, and other news about services offered by the RCAP Schools.

Security of Collected Information

To ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of collected Personal Data, organizational, administrative, and technical processes and procedures are put in place to safeguard the data from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. For example, we secure the Personal Data you provide in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. When Personal Data (such as a credit card number) is transmitted to other websites such as payment processors, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.

The security of your data is important to us, but note that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Retention of Collected Information

The information we collect shall be retained for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, and to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected (e.g. legal, regulatory, administrative, academic, historical or statistical purpose). It will also be retained if legally required, to resolve disputes, to enforce our legal agreements and policies, or to fulfill a legitimate interest. It will be disposed of when no longer relevant or necessary for the operation of the abovementioned RCAP Schools in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Usage data will also be retained for internal analysis purposes.

Website Analytics

The Website uses Google Analytics, a third-party service offered by Google to analyze the web traffic data for us. This service uses cookies. The following standard non-personally identifiable web traffic data are analyzed:

  • Your IP address
  • The search terms you used
  • The pages and internal links accessed on our site
  • The date and time you visited the site
  • Geolocation
  • The referring site or platform (if any) through which you clicked through to this site
  • Your operating system
  • Web browser type

Google uses the data collected to track and monitor the use of the Website. This data is shared with other Google services. Google may use the collected data to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network.

You can opt-out of having made your activity on the Service available to Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js, and dc.js) from sharing information with Google Analytics about visits activity.

Links to Third-Party Websites

The RCAP Schools Online Services may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. We do not control third-party websites and are not responsible for the content of any linked-to third-party websites or any hyperlink in a linked-to website. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of third-party websites. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit.

Personal Information of Other Individuals

If you provide personal information on the RCAP Schools Online Services regarding other individuals or data subjects, it is required that you inform the data subject about this Privacy Policy and obtain any legally-required consent for the collection, use, disclosure, and transfer of the personal information about the data subject in accordance with this Privacy Policy and the Data Privacy Act of 2012.

Personal Information of Minors

The RCAP Schools Online Services are generally intended for persons 18 years of age and older. In the event that information to be collected by or contributed to the RCAP Schools is that of a minor, prior consent from the parent or legal guardian should be obtained in compliance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012.

Marketing

Personal information you submit through the Service, such as your name, address and other contact information, may be collected for internal marketing and development purposes as well as to respond to your inquiry, complete a transaction for you, or fulfill other forms of customer service. You can choose not to receive marketing from us by “unsubscribing” using the instructions in any marketing email you receive from us.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time in accordance with existing and new relevant laws and regulations issued by the government.
