Every seminarian owes his vocation to the priesthood from his very own family. His vocation story will never be complete without these persons who first introduced him to Christ. And so, as an expression of our perpetual gratitude to our family, the St. John the Evangelist School of Theology celebrated its annual Family Days on December 1st and 2nd 2018, with the theme “Family: An Instrument for New Evangelization”.
The two-day momentous event was celebrated with series of activities. An evening recollection for the parents marked the opening of the said event. It was then facilitated by the Seminary Rector, Rev. Fr. Virgilio Manaog. It was followed by a sumptuous dinner and a short program. The seminarians got the chance to entertain their families through showcasing their hidden talents. Day one concluded with laughter and joy seen on the faces of each seminarian and their family as they lavished the moment that seldom come.
The seminarians and their respective families spent the beginning of day two as they gave praise to God through the divine office. Afterwards, they relished their breakfast sharing stories and merriments together. Serious matters concerning seminary formation were discussed during the Parents-Formators Meeting that morning. The day continued as the community offered thanksgiving with a mass celebration presided over by His Excellency John F. Du. Within the mass was the installation of the minor ministries. The second year theology seminarians thankfully received the ministry of lectorate and the third year theology seminarians gratuitously accepted the ministry of acolyte. The parents were proud of/for their sons but the same time humbled for sharing such a priceless blessing.
Overflowing with love received on the significant two-day event, the seminarians happily bid their farewells to their families as the day ended.
